Future Strategy 02

UTILIZING THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGIES TO CREATE GREATER EFFICIENCIES.

3-line Divider

GL&P is currently developing the Sollair Solar Energy Facility (Sollair), a state-of-the-art utility scale renewable energy facility in Rocky View County. Sollair is a 75 mega-watt Solar Energy Facility, located a half mile east of the QE2 highway on Township Road 274, immediately north of the City of Airdrie. Sollair will cover approximately 480 acres on 640 acres of land owned by GL&P and will provide renewable energy to power an estimated 25,000 homes.

About the Project

3-line Divider

The land that Sollair is being developed on has historically been cultivated farmland. GL&P recognize and support the value of Alberta farmland and the agricultural industry. Because of this, GL&P has committed to an Alberta first of its kind Agri-voltaic pilot program as part of the development. Agri-voltaic, or Agri-solar, facilities are photovoltaic generation facilities where the land is simultaneously used for agriculture purposes.

GL&P have partnered with Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic with an expressed intent to collaborate on the Agri-voltaic pilot program proposed for the development. With these partnerships and others, GL&P’s objective is to create the largest Agri-voltaic project in the world.

Public Consultation

3-line Divider

GL&P is committed to being a responsible corporate neighbour. This commitment includes providing meaningful engagement with area residents, occupants, and landowners in order to build strong relationships between GL&P and the community. We strive to meet or exceed the AUC consultation requirements and commit to responding to all comments and concerns in a timely manner. GL&P will continue this commitment with the community throughout the planning phase, construction and operations of the Project.
